CHES is a premium cataract surgery center of excellence.

CATARACTS can happen at any age, but they most often happen in people over 60. It’s a clouding of the eye’s lens. It can easily be removed and replaced by a special lens during surgery.

When should I get a cataract surgery?

When cataracts reach the stage where they are decreasing an individual’s vision, causing glare and color degradation, cataract surgery is called for.

In this common procedure, your eye surgeon removes the natural lens in the patient’s eye (crystalline lens), which is replaced by a permanent lens implant. The implant is made specifically to fit the patient’s prescription and eye length for each eye.

Cataract surgery is performed on an outpatient basis and requires no stitches. Patients go home the same day. We have the most advanced technology for pre-operative testing and intra-operative lens implantation.  We are able to correct farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism with a high degree of precision, eliminating the need for spectacles for up to 90% of the time.  This allows for active individuals to continue enjoying their daily activities seamlessly without the hassle to scramble for their glasses.

After the surgery

The patient must wear an eye shield for the first 24 hours. During the immediate post-operative period, the vision will be foggy but it will improve as the days go on.  Eye drops to prevent eye infection and inflammation are required in the recovery period. Cataract surgery is performed on only one eye at a time.  Patients usually have useful vision day one after surgery.
